Here’s what I learn about Revenge at any living situation on life.
The best revenge is just moving on and getting over it. I don’t need to give anyone the satisfaction of watching me suffer. As far as relationships or marriages, here’s the thing about it. If some other girl ever steals your man, there’s no better revenge than letting her have him. Why? Because real men can’t be stolen. Beyond that, the sweetest form of revenge is to kill your haters and enemies with kindness. Nothing makes them crazier than your graciousness. When I think of revenge, I’d be thinking that taking vengeance into my hands to protect what belongs to me but it don’t work that way. It is worthless. When it comes to vengeance, here are the 3 Bible stories that’s based on revenge.
Take Jacob’s sons Simeon and Levi for example. These brothers were after revenge when they found out what had happened to their sister, Dinah. What had happened was Shechem forced himself on her and as angry her brothers were, they ended up murdering Shechem and many of his people. (Genesis 30:21; 34)
Look at another example, King David’s good-looking son Absalom. His brother, Amnon mistreated his half-sister, Tamar, her brother made plans to murder Amnon. Two years later Absalom gave a great big party and invited Amnon. When Amnon was drunk with wine, Absalom ordered his servants to murder Amnon. (2 Samuel 3:2; 13:1; 1 Chronicles 3:1)
Last but not least, the previous story I pointed out month in ‘Guys Do Not Like “Drama” ‘, Samson and Delilah. Samson was seeking vengeance at the very beginning when he was betrayed by his wife and he went out stripped all the people’s finest cloaks and burned the fields of the Philistines. After the deceitful Delilah did damage just to get $1,936.00 worth of silver, Samson was sold as a slave and on that note, his final and deadly revenge was to destroy the Philistines by crushing the temple of the idol Dagon. It was so deadly Samson ended up crushing himself and thousands of Philistines! (Judges 16:1-31)
Whenever you think of vengeance, here’s some scriptures you’ll find truthfully. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:38-42) “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:17-21)
